iOS 26 lets you use any MP3 or M4A file as a ringtone, and you don’t have to deal with GarageBand anymore for it.

A Change for the Better, iOS 26 Lets You Use Any MP3 or M4A File as a Ringtone Straight from the Files App

Creating a custom ringtone on iPhone is not an easy task since it involves using an app like GarageBand. Alternatively, you can buy ringtones for your iPhone for a price of $1.29 apiece through the iTunes Store.

However, in iOS 26, you can just use any MP3 or M4A file as a ringtone as long as it’s under 30 seconds. That audio file must be in the Files app, and all you have to do is tap and hold on it and select Use as Ringtone.

But wait, it gets even better.

You can even use recordings from an app like Voice Memos as a ringtone as well. Just play that favorite guitar lick, record it using your iPhone, and put it up as a ringtone. Simple as that.

While we live in a day and age in which our iPhones are forever on silent, this feature will come in handy for those who need a new ringtone, depending on their mood.

iOS 26 is currently available as a developer beta and the final version will be available for download later this year.
