Apple has officially announced that it is adding multi-touch support for mapping apps in CarPlay with iOS 26.
CarPlay in iOS 26 will Allow You to Zoom into Your Map Using Multi-touch
Zooming into a map on iPhone is straightforward – just pinch to zoom in or out. In CarPlay, you have to zoom in using buttons and arrows which is a tough experience.
But all of that is going to change with iOS 26 and CarPlay.
Apple has announced that it is bringing multi-touch support to CarPlay and it will work in all mapping apps allowing you to zoom in or out using a pinch gesture. It works exactly how you expect it to on an iPhone, except on your car’s infotainment screen.
Do keep one thing in mind: multi-touch gestures will only work if your car has a multi-touch display. If it doesn’t, then you have to tap those pesky little arrows to zoom in or out.
Apart from this feature, Apple has also announced that it is bringing video playback to CarPlay with iOS 26. And, Liquid Glass is coming to your car, among other features.
