Meta is hard at work internally testing the Instagram for iPad app, and it is expected to be released later this year.
Meta is Actively Working on Instagram for iPad, Should be Released by the End of this Year
Meta has turned its attention towards the iPad lately. With the recent release of WhatsApp for iPad, it only makes sense that the company would give its most popular app – Instagram – the iPad treatment too.
Reports have been flying around that Meta has started to take the iPad version of the app seriously, and Mark Gurman from Bloomberg chimed in on the matter over the weekend, too.
According to him, Meta is actively testing the iPad version of Instagram internally, and if everything goes to plan, the app is expected to land on Apple’s tablet later this year.
Though this sounds like a huge wait, but believe it or not, the new iPhone is just a few months away from release too. We won’t even know it and the app will be available for download.
Meta had a strange relationship with iPad for a long time, and Mark Zuckerberg once famously said that iPad is not a ‘mobile’ device back in 2010. That was the reason why the Facebook app didn’t exist on iPad.
However, in 2011, Facebook released the iPad version of Facebook.
Today, the iPad has become an important device, and it makes way more sense for Meta to bring more apps to it. One such app that should be on the iPad is Threads. It’s been missing since day one, and there’s no word on its release so far.
Threads on a larger display means you get a bigger timeline view, along with multiple columns to follow your favorite topics. It will be an entirely different experience itself.
