A new report says that Apple is all set to launch the AirTag 2 in September, and it will feature enhanced battery alerts.

AirTag 2 will Feature Two-Step Battery Alerts and will Launch Alongside the iPhone 17 Later this Year

AirTag 2 comes and goes from the rumor mill from time to time. Today, 9to5Mac has jumped into the scene with some interesting information related to Apple’s next item tracker.

First and foremost, the report says the new AirTag will be released in September. If you know the importance of that month in regard to Apple, then you already know it’s the time when the company announces the new iPhone.

So, it’s safe to assume that the new AirTag will be launched alongside the iPhone 17 lineup of smartphones.

According to the new information shared, the AirTag 2 will share how battery is reported to the user. The new item tracker will tell the user when the battery is getting low and will even inform them when it’s ‘very low.’ Basically, low battery level is going to be reported twice, rather than just once like the current AirTag model.

When the battery is low on AirTag, features like Precision Finding stop working. I’m assuming the first low battery warning hits when that is close to happening.

When the second warning pops up for very low battery, it’s when features are unavailable and that you really should change the battery before everything goes dark.

It just makes perfect senes that this feature would work that way. But again, it’s just speculation.

The report says Apple might use a non-removable battery in the next AirTag, but I think it’s unlikely, unless there’s a huge advantage to it which we simply cannot think about just yet.
