A new report sheds light on the upcoming watchOS 12 and tvOS 19 updates, and says they are set to be redesigned too.
watchOS 12 for Apple Watch and tvOS 19 for Apple TV Set to Receive Huge Redesign as well
iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 are probably the only updates a lot of us are looking forward to. However, Bloomberg says we should keep our eyes on watchOS 12 and tvOS 19 as well.
The iPhone, iPad, and Mac aren’t the only software updates that will arrive with a major redesign. Apple is doing it for the Apple Watch and Apple TV too.
I’m only going to assume that Apple is going to make all of its operating systems consistent across the board in terms of how they look. Although I believe it may make everything look slightly boring.
But, I love to be proven wrong here.
If Apple’s latest WWDC 2025 event invite is anything to go by, it sort of gives away what we can expect on June 9th. And that’s a lot of glassy UI and transparent menus.
Interestingly, the report says visionOS 3 will also feature a slightly updated UI, but not as big as everything else. It seems as though Apple is taking its inspiration from Vision Pro, so it makes sense to keep it where it’s at currently.
Given iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS have remained unchanged for many years at this point, I’m just glad this change is happening, boring or not. I’m done looking at the same old UI over and over again – it’s time for something fresh and different, especially for those who see the Apple ecosystem as ‘same as last year.’
We can expect the first beta of Apple’s new software to arrive immediately after the opening keynote. But do keep in mind that it will be for developers only. We should expect the public beta to arrive when we are two to three betas in.
The full and final version of the updates will arrive at the end of this year. If past releases are anything to go by, then we can look forward to a launch sometime in mid-September.
