While there’s no clue when the Apple Watch SE 3 will launch, but there is a chance the new model will be bigger in size.
Apple May Release the Watch SE 3 in New 41mm and 45mm Sizes Akin to Series 9 Model
The current Apple Watch SE is available in two sizes – 40mm and 44mm. While it’s okay for Apple Watch, Apple has released four new sizes after that, with the latest two a part of the Series 10 lineup.
According to supply chain analyst Ross Young on X, the display for the upcoming Apple Watch SE has gone into production and the smaller one is 1.6-inches while the larger one is 1.8-inches.
If you do an extremely basic calculation, that brings the display size close to a 41mm and 45mm size Apple Watch, a size which was last seen on the Series 9 before being replaced by the Series 10’s larger 42mm and 46mm.
SE 3 was previously rumored for release in 2025. That definitely did not happen, which brings us to this year.
However, with the displays going into production now, it’s safe to assume that the new model will likely be announced sometime in September alongside the new iPhones, if not earlier.
I’m only going to assume that if the new SE 3 has a larger display, it will likely miss out on the always-on display feature, something that remains exclusive to the flagship lineup.
But, I firmly believe a bump in display size will make the Apple Watch SE way more favorable than before, even if it gets a slight price bump. If Apple manages to keep the price the same, then it has a winning product at hand.
